    Testimonials from India 2016:

The journey to India 2016 was the perfect immersion in culture, knowledge, and tradition and Val and Andrea couldn’t have been more perfect as our guides. From eventful sightseeing to quiet times of reflection and the many world renowned teachers we had the opportunity to study with, this journey was filled to the brim. Prue gratitude almost doesn’t seem to describe how I feel for every experience I had while on this trip. If you’re looking to really get to know Southern India, this is most certainly it. Much love to everyone in 2018! – Lisa B

My experience with the India 2016 trip was deeply moving, stimulating, educational, spiritual and, quite frankly, a lot of fun. Val and Andrea created a program that was nicely balanced between “group related activities” and free time. It was yoga centered but not yoga intensive – meaning, it was nice to be in community to practice each day but then to do something each day to learn about the culture, history or people. Every stop, venue, and activity provided an opportunity to learn or experience something new. – Jim F

When I decided to go to India with Val, I was nervous about one thing…I definitely wanted to see and explore the culture that gave us this awesome practice, but I’ve never been one to travel in groups. And though I had practiced with Val, I wasn’t acquainted with the Shala community. If anyone, I was the outsider in the group. Of course we weren’t even out of the country before I began to feel embraced by the group. And that’s how the trip went. Val set a compassionate tone and we all looked after each other. We sweat together, ate together, healed together, toured sights together, and yet there was no pressure to do anything and plenty of space to be alone. India’s obviously a big place. Big in many ways. And foreign, for sure. Yet this trip was rich and fulfilling and just long enough for me to begin to let go of my ideas and begin to see the beauty of India and the Indian people more clearly. – Brian P

The trip far surpassed my expectations. I had no idea what to expect as I had never been to India before and I am not a good traveler. I also did not know most of the people we were traveling with so I was nervous about that. By the time we arrived in India our group had already formed a cohesive group and I have made lifetime friends with a number of my fellow travelers. The food and weather are two reasons to go. It was lovely everyday and the food is amazing. But I would say the people of India are really the reason to go. They are friendly and kind and I just can’t explain how welcoming they are. You can do as much as you want or as little. It is laid back and yet exciting at the same time. Be open minded and go with the flow and you will have a great time. – Laura L
